Fire damages duplex

CONNELLSVILLE TWP. – The state police fire marshal is investigating the cause of a Thursday afternoon blaze that destroyed a portion of a River Avenue two-story duplex.

Although two people were in the adjoining side of the home where the fire started, no one was injured, said Connellsville Township assistant fire Chief Robbie Leiberger.

“We’re not sure right now how it started,” he said.

Eight fire departments and dozens of firefighters responded to the 1 p.m. fire.
