Join “Max & Ruby” for a Super Duper Special Birthday Party at the Byham Theater
It’s a Bunny Party and everyone’s invited – hosted by none other than our favorite two furry friends Max and Ruby who will take the audience on a magical bus ride to the East Bunnyhop General Store to buy party supplies for the Super Duper Special Birthday Guest March 9 and 10 at the Byham Theater in Pittsburgh.
“Max and Ruby epitomize the relationship of siblings,” said Patti Caplette, artistic director for Max and Ruby’s Bunny Party. “In this case, it’s wonderful that Max is a bunny of few words and Ruby is quite elegant with hers. She’s always making suggestions of what to do and Max, with just the shake of his head and a twinkle in his eye gets his way in the end.”
If you’re a parent of a younger child, it’s likely that you know our Max and Ruby’s show on Nick Jr. filled with the always bossy Ruby and silent, but lovable Max. You’re probably also one of the thousands of parents around the country asking “Where are their parents?” – attend the show and you might just find out through one of the songs. In this particular show, Ruby is going to learn a valuable lesson about what’s on the inside that counts with a little bit of imagination and a few toys.
“My favorite scene is where Ruby has banned all of Max’s toys from coming to the party,” said Caplette. “So the toys have to convince Ruby that they aren’t so bad.”
Max and Ruby’s Bunny Party is an excellent way to introduce young children to the theater. The vibrant costumes and familiar characters will leap off the stage to life for your little ones. In addition to Max and Ruby, we’ll see Louise, Grandma and meet a few new friends along the way. Children will sing, laugh and dance in their seats in this hour long show.
“It’s a great way to introduce young children to theater and have an interactive experience,” said Caplette. “They can sign along with the songs and bring theater into their lives as a positive thing. That is a wonderful goal for me is to get them out of the house to see something to experience and enjoy for the rest of their lives.
Tickets for Max and Ruby’s Bunny Party are $29.25 and available at www.pgharts.org. Great seats are still available for all performances. If you’ve never taken your child to the theater, this is an excellent opportunity to expose them to a live production in a friendly atmosphere with characters they know and love.
“I’m a theater buff and theater is my passion,” said Caplette. “It’s how I’ve learned how to enjoy entertainment and communication. There’s are wonderful and very subtle moments in the show that reinforce positive behavior and positive thinking. It’s a beautiful way for whole families to get together and enjoy a musical piece of multiple levels. The parents and kids will really enjoy them so it’s a big family outing.
