Bernice Davis

Bernice Davis, 86, passed away on March 7, 2012 following a lengthy illness.

Bernice graduated from Uniontown High School and worked for the late Judge Samuel Feigus. During World War II, she and her three sisters, Miriam, Selma, and Jean, moved to Washington D.C. to work for the federal government. Bernice worked as a clerical assistant on the Manhattan Project. Later in life, Bernice worked for the Town and Country and The Bon Ton department stores.

Bernice is survived by her husband of 60 years, Sam Davis, and their daughter, Sandy Davis Turney. Bernice is also survived by her sister-in-law, Phyllis Davis; one nephew, Sam Simon; four nieces, Sharon Offsie, Rosalind Laskin, Paula Simon and Vicki Doukas; three great-nieces, Elizabeth Hunt, Erin Lillie and Michele Zeigler and great great-niece, Emma Riley.

In addition to being preceded in death by her sisters, Bernice was also predeceased by her parents, Edith and Harry Gusky; nephew, Donald Simon and son-in-law, Russ Turney.

Bernice will be greatly missed by special friends, Tiggie and Chester Miller and her friends in the Golden Corral lunch bunch. She will also be terribly missed by her four legged companion, Roxanne, a kitten she adopted many years ago.

Friends will be received in the DONALD R. CRAWFORD FUNERAL HOME, Hopwood, Pa. today from 12 p.m. to 1 p.m the hour of service in the funeral home with Rabbi Sion David officiating. Interment in Holy Society Cemetery, Hopwood, Pa.

The family requests that memorial donations be made to Fayette Friends of Animals, 223 Searights Herbert Rd., PO Box 1282, Uniontown PA 15401.
