Connellsville man faces child porn charges
A Connellsville man who recently was arrested for allegedly sending explicit text messages to a 12-year-old girl is now facing additional charges that he sexually exploited a Colorado teenager by requesting sexually explicit photographs of her, police said.
State police Trooper Craig M. Soltis said police secured a warrant for the arrest of Wayne Nicholas Hillyard, 22, of 2119½ S. Pittsburgh St. on charges including sexual exploitation of children, sexual abuse of children, unlawful contact with a minor and criminal use of a communication facility following the interactions with the 16-year-old.
While searching Hillyard’s cellphone in the case involving the 12-year-old girl, police uncovered a sexually explicit photo sent to Hillyard’s phone from the Colorado teen at Hillyard’s request.
Additionally, Soltis said that text messages of an explicit nature from Hillyard to the teen also were discovered.
Last month, state police withdrew the most serious charges against Hillyard after he was charged with sending a 12-year-old girl sexually explicit text messages.
In that case, Hillyard was charged with sexual exploitation of children, attempted sexual exploitation of children, corruption of minors and harassment.
During a preliminary hearing before Haggerty in February, police withdrew the sexual exploitation and attempted sexual exploitation charges against Hillyard and he subsequently waived the remaining charges against him to Fayette County Court.
In that case, Soltis said the charges were filed after Hillyard sent the girl text messages between Jan. 1 and Jan. 21 requesting she perform a sex act and send a naked photograph of herself.
