Roy M. Fluharty
Roy M. Fluharty, age 86, Nemacolin, Pa. died Monday March 12, 2012 in Southwest Regional Medical Center, Waynesburg.
Mr. Fluharty was born January 24, 1926 in Osage, W.Va., the son of the late Jefferson and Margaret Shutz Fluharty.
He was a 1943 graduate of Clay Battelle High School, Blacksville, W.Va.
Roy is survived by his wife Ruthalie (Morris) Fluharty whom he married July 9, 1990.
He is survived by 4 sons: Milford Fluharty and wife Beverly, Follansbee, W.Va., Joel Fluharty and wife Marilyn, San Diego, Calif., Stephen Fluharty and wife Kathy, Maybee, Michigan and Daren Tenney, Carmichaels; a daughter, Lucinda Mains and husband Marty, Fayetteville, N.C.; 5 grandchildren; 2 great grandchildren; 3 sisters: Georgia Eernisse and Eileen Snider and husband Charles, and Margaret Tennant and husband Mahlon; 1 brother: Donald Fluharty and wife Jean.
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his first wife, Eloise Belford Fluharty; 2 daughters: Elizabeth Cooper and Kimberly White, a brother: Jay J. Fluharty, and a sister: Edith Rudolph.
Roy worked as a coal miner, Greyhound Bus Driver, and retired as an over the road truck driver.
He was a great lover of horses, dogs, and cats and took care of many over his lifetime.
Roy was a member of the Church of Christ.
Friends will be received in the LESAKO FUNERAL HOME INC., 204 Dowlin Avenue, Carmichaels, Pa. 15320 (724-966-5100), Paul M. Lesako Funeral Director Supervisor on Wednesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m., Thursday from 10 to 11 a.m. The Funeral Service will begin at 11:00 a.m. in the Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Ben Bradmon officiating.
