Warrant issued for Masontown man following assault
Masontown police said they have secured a warrant for the arrest of a Masontown man accused of violently beating another man during a drunken altercation last month.
Officer Robert L. Kelly said Justin Lee Shuff, 24, is facing charges for aggravated assault, simple assault and harassment for the assault on Clarence David of Masontown.
According to Kelly, the warrant was secured after police were summoned to an apartment on South Main Street at 9:24 p.m. Feb. 28 where they found David “bleeding profusely” from the face.
Kelly said that Shuff, David and a friend were inside the apartment drinking when the fight occurred. During the altercation, Shuff punched David in the face, knocking him to the floor, and then repeatedly kicked him in the head, Kelly said.
Kelly said the friend was then able to pull Shuff from David, and Shuff then ran from the residence.
“At this point, I have no idea what sparked the fight,” Kelly said Monday. “I have to conduct some follow-up interviews but that night all parties were too intoxicated to determine why the fight occurred.”
Kelly said that David was taken by Fayette EMS to Uniontown Hospital and later transported to UPMC-Mercy hospital in Pittsburgh to undergo facial surgery. David had a broken nose, a broken orbital bone and multiple additional injuries to his face, Kelly said. Anyone with information regarding Shuff’s whereabouts is asked to call police at 724-583-7779.
