A Lemont Furnace man, who is a convicted sex offender, will stand trial on charges he allegedly sexually assaulted two young girls in North Union Township in September.

State police Trooper Heather L. Clem said Joseph Michael Trifiro, 27, of 367 Main St., Lemont Furnace, was charged before Magisterial District Judge Wendy D. Dennis with two counts of indecent assault in the incident that allegedly occurred between Sept. 20 and Sept. 22.

This morning, Assistant District Attorney Michelle Kelley and Clem modified those charges to include two counts of aggravated indecent assault.

Following a preliminary hearing, Dennis held all charges against Trifiro for Fayette County Court.
