State police offer camp for local youths
State police Troop B announced they have started accepting applications for the troop’s annual Camp Cadet for area boys and girls.
The camp, which will be held July 15-21, is a free camp for girls and boys 12 to 14 years old from Fayette, Greene, Washington, Westmoreland and Allegheny counties.
The camp will be held this year at the Linsly Outdoor Center near Raccoon State Park in Beaver County.
Troopers and other law enforcement officials and volunteers manage the camp, which is designed to introduce children to the criminal justice system and create a positive relationship with law enforcement.
Officials said the camp focuses on discipline, self-esteem, team work, drug and alcohol education and violence prevention.
Applications are available at local state police stations across the district as well as online at orgsites.com/pa/troop-b-camp-cadet.
