Zoning board approves plans for medical center at former hospital

1 min read

The Fayette County Zoning Hearing Board granted approval Wednesday of a non-conforming use for the former Brownsville Hospital property that will allow the vacant medical center to again serve patients.

The building, located in an R-1 residential zone, was purchased last year. Attorney Brit Groom of Springfield, Va. said plans are to open the Best Fayette Medical Center LP utilizing three buildings at the site.

Groom said the former owners closed up the hospital more than a year ago, which necessitated the non-conforming use approval.
