Vincent Bailey, age 92, of Masontown, Pa., passed away Friday, March 23, 2012 at the Uniontown Hospital.

H e w a s b o r n i n Continental, Fayette County, Pa., October 2, 1919 the son of John Bailey and Anna (Ridilla) Bailey.

He was a veteran of World War II who served in the 101st Airborne Screaming Eagles. He made over 30 jumps during his military service.

During his service, ‘Vince’ was involved in the Battle of the Bulge, the Invasion of Normandy and the Battle at Bastogne. He was a recipient of the Purple Heart and the Bronze Star.

Before retiring, he was employed for many years as a miner at United States Steel’s Robena Mine in Greene County where he was a member of the United Mine Workers of America Local 6321 and on the Mine Safety Committee.

He was a member of All Saints Roman Catholic Church Masontown, Pa., and Lifetime Member of American Legion Post 423 and the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 4584 both in Masontown. He was also a member of the Fayette County Firemen’s Association and the Disabled American Veterans.

He was predeceased by his parents; brothers: Ted, John, Ed, Leonard, Leroy, and Harry and sister, Ann Bailey Carrick.

Left to cherish his memory are his loving wife of 64 years, Caroline T. (Lovrich) Bailey; son, Dennis Bailey of Tampa, Florida; daughter, Rosemary (Joseph) Pascia of Masontown; grandchildren: Cindy (Chad) Hardwick, L e a h B a i l e y, Jeremy (Denise) Pascia and Hilary (Keith) Nopwasky; great grandchildren: Madison Pascia, Benjamin Hardwick, Addison Hardwick and Giana Nopwasky; one sister, Evelyn Boyle of Masontown, Pa.; brother, Robert (Marcelene) Bailey of Ohio; sister-in-laws: Anna Tuskan and Sister M. Magdalene Lovrich; plus numerous nieces and nephews.

Friends will be received in the JOHN S. MAYKUTH JR. FUNERAL HOME, corner of Church and 7 River Avenue, Masontown, Pa., today, Sunday March 25, 2012 from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. and Monday, March 26, 2012 until 10:30 a.m. when a Prayer Service will be held in the Funeral Home Chapel.

A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 11 a.m. in All Saints Roman Catholic Church Masontown, Pa., with the Rev. Father John M. Butler and the Rev. Father John A. Bauer as Con-Celebrants.

Interment will follow at Lafayette Memorial Park, Brier Hill, Pa., where Military Rites will be accorded by the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 4584 and the American Legion Post 423 both of Masontown.
