Avenell Blevins Varesko Ledgerton, 85, of Mt. Morris, Pa., formerly of Carmichaels, Pa., died Monday, March 26, 2012 in Ruby Memorial Hospital, Morgantown, W.Va. from complications of a stroke.

She was born July 19, 1926 in Brownsville, Pa., daughter of the late Earl and Ethel Blevins.

Mrs. Ledgerton was a 1945 graduate of Cumberland Township High School. She enjoyed cooking, gardening and reading. Mrs. Ledgerton was a loving, wife, mother, nanny and friend and will be dearly missed; a wonderful woman who went to live with the Lord, a beloved angel.

On December 22, 1979, she married Stanley Ledgerton, who survives. Also surviving are three children: William ‘Bugger’ Varesko, Gary Varesko and wife, Joyce, and Roxanne Gasti and husband, Chuck, all of Carmichaels; three stepchildren: Helen ‘Cookie’ Miller and husband, Clint, of Freeport, Illinois, Eric Ledgerton III and wife, Bobbie Jo of Front Royal, Virginia and Clay Ledgerton and companion, Kris of Crucible, Pa.; 22 grandchildren; 20 great grandchildren; a great great grandchild; four sisters: Pauline Garvin of LaGrange, Kentucky, Mary Jo Rutkosky of Carmichaels, Dorothy McCombs of Andover, Ohio, Portia Fullgrabbe of Springfield, Illinois; two brothers, Grant Franks of Carmichaels and John Franks of Ashtabula, Ohio. Also surviving are several nieces and nephews.

Deceased are her step-mother, Evelyn Franks Blevins, two brothers, Ardiste Blevins and Gene Franks and a sister, Nadean Stevens.

Family and friends are welcomed from 7 to 9 p.m. on Wednesday and 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. on Thursday in the YOSKOVICH FUNERAL HOME (724-966-5500), Martin J. Yoskovich, Funeral Director, 300 South Vine Street (Route 88), Carmichaels, Pa., where Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, March 30, 2012 with the Rev. Harold O. Kelley officiating.
