Uniontown man charged in attempted arson

A Uniontown man is facing multiple charges after police allege he attempted to burn down an apartment building in Pershing Court housing complex in Uniontown early today because he was bored.

Uniontown police Officer Travis Shandor said Fred Mitchell Jr., 21, of 59 Pershing Court was charged before Magisterial District Judge Jesse Cramer with arson, causing or risking a catastrophe, recklessly endangering another person, harassment and disorderly conduct.

Shandor said police responded to Mitchell’s apartment at 4:24 a.m. and found Mitchell standing in the doorway and saw smoke coming from the residence behind him.
