Dr. Gary D. Herring

Dr. Gary D. Herring, 70, formerly of Uniontown, Pa. went home to be with the Lord on April 29, 2012 at his residence in Haines City, Fla. He was born on April 8, 1942 in Uniontown and moved to Haines City in December of 2002.

Dr. Herring was the Pastor of Bible Baptist Church in Uniontown for some 32 years and is a member of Landmark Baptist Church, Haines City. He was a U.S. Army veteran being stationed in Germany during the Vietnam Era and was a professor at Landmark Baptist College.

Gary’s hobby was helping and serving people. His motto was, ‘There is no better exercise for the heart than reaching down and lifting people up’.

He is predeceased by his parents, Floyd and Lucy Casteel Herring and a sister, Elsie (Howard) Johnson.

Gary is survived by his wife, of 48 years, Earla Ogle Herring; daughter Lyndle Herring of Haines City; siblings: Elma Jean (Robert) Hustek of Seattle, Wash., Lynn (Linda) Herring of Greensburg, Pa.; nephew Dale (Martha) Johnson of Uniontown and extended family Merv (Margi) Showalter.

Visitation will be today (Tuesday) from 7 to 9 p.m. at LANDMARK BAPTIST CHURCH and the funeral will be Wednesday, 5/2/12 at 3 p.m. at Landmark Baptist Church. Memorial donations may be made to the Bible Baptist Church, Bus Ministry. Condolences may be sent via: www.oakridgefuneralcare.com
