Beth-Center School District to host Fun Run
Runners will have an opportunity to run for the health of it while raising money for an area school district.
Beth-Center School District in Fredericktown is hosting a 3K Fun Run at 9 a.m. today to raise money for students in all grade levels.
The run has taken place for 15 years, with the proceeds going toward the Make-A-Wish Foundation. However, this year the Beth-Center wellness committee organized the event and plans to use the money differently.
“They (the funds raised) will go within the school to the wellness program to be used for the purchase of equipment for students to use in all three buildings,” said Belinda Brova, the nurse for the high school and middle school. “They (the committee) are looking at treadmills and stationary bikes.”
The 1.86-mile race will be held on Crawford Road, which is situated between the high school and middle school. Brova said that the road will be closed for about an hour and a half during the race. The East Bethlehem Township police, state police and the Washington County Sheriff’s Department will work together to assist with the road closure.
The race is open to the public.
“We always have parents that come and participate,” said Brova.
A rain date is scheduled for Thursday.
