Valley Road project nearly complete in Perry Township

The Perry Township supervisors approved the final payment to the fill contractor for the Valley Road project.

A.J. Boni, chairman of the board of supervisors, said the supervisors agreed on Tuesday to the final payment of $29,500 to the contractor that filled the ravine over which a bridge once stood.

The township demolished the bridge after it was closed a couple years ago because of structural concerns. The township has filled in the ravine, relocated a water line and installed guardrails at a cost of about $210,000, Boni said. The next step is paving the road, he said.

In other business, the supervisors that the Maplewood Drive water line extension project will get under way soon. Boni said the township received a $20,000 state grant for the project.

In another water matter, the North Fayette County Municipal Authority has fixed five water line leaks since the middle of last week, Boni said.

Also, the supervisors announced that a community bicentennial planning meeting will be held at the fire station at 7 p.m. May 23.
