Boy flown after accident in Connellsville

A 12-year-old boy was flown to a Pittsburgh hospital Saturday evening after the bicycle he was riding collided with a car in Connellsville.

Connellsville city police said the boy was traveling down a hill just after 9 p.m. and struck the side of a vehicle traveling on Ninth Street, south on Route 119.

Police said the boy appeared to have some broken bones, an ankle injury and a possible head injury. He was transported by Fayette EMS to a helicopter landing zone at Connellsville Area High School where he was flown to Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh, police said.

Police said no one in the vehicle was injured.

Also assisting police on the scene were emergency responders from New Haven Hose Fire Company.
