Leonard Havanets ‘Whitey’
Leonard ‘Whitey’ Havanets age 85, of Tower Hill Two, Pa., died Friday, May 4, 2012 at his home.
He was born on May 2, 1927 in Grindstone, Pa., the Son of John Havanets and Rose (Brayo) Havanets.
He was a Veteran of World War II and a Lifetime Member of the American Legion and the Veterans of Foreign Wars both in Masontown, Pa., The Catholic War Veterans Post 1669 and the B.P.O. Elks both in Uniontown, Pa.
Leonard was also a member of the Nixon Gun Club and the United Mine Workers of America Local 1248.
He was a Lifetime Member of the Luzerne Township Fire Department.
He was predeceased by his Parents; Stepmother, Esther Havanets; Brothers, Edward Havanets, Bernard Havanets; Sisters, Mary Jane Stacoviak and Alice Jane Swaney; and two Brothers-in-Law, Ralph Swaney and Albert Lizurick.
He is survived by his Wife, Dolores (Mikulic) Havanets; Sister, Phyllis Jane Lizurick of Chambersburg, Pa.; Sister-in-Law, A n n a Havanets of Seatontown, Pa.; Step Brother, John Ferenci and wife Dorothy of Hiller, Pa.; Special Niece, Stacie Rude; several Nieces and Nephews.
Friends will be received in SKIRPAN FUNERAL HOME, 135 Park Street, Brownsville, Pa., on Monday from 2 to 9 p.m. and Tuesday, May 8, 2012 until 11:15 a.m. when a Prayer Service will be held.
Funeral Mass will follow at 12 Noon in Holy Rosary R.C. Church, Republic, Pa., with Reverend Father William C. McGuirk as Celebrant.
Interment will follow in Lafayette Memorial Park with Military Rites accorded by the Veterans of Foreign Wars and Fort Mason American Legion Post 423 both of Masontown.
