Uniontown man charged with sexually assaulting boy
A Uniontown man is facing felony charges alleging that he sexually assaulted a 11-year-old boy on Monday.
Uniontown police arrested Shaun Douglas Fitzgerald, 18, of 74 Murray Ave. for allegedly performing a sex act on the boy under an overpass between East Main Street and Penn Street after school.
The boy’s mother called police just before 5 p.m. to report the incident.
When officers left the alleged victim’s home, Fitzgerald was waiting outside and admitted to having inappropriate contact with the boy, police said in a criminal complaint. Fitzgerald provided police with a written statement at the police station later in the day, police said.
Fitzgerald was charged with three counts of aggravated indecent assault, two counts of indecent assault, statutory sexual assault, rape of a child and corruption of minors.
He was arraigned and placed in the Fayette County Prison on $3,500 straight bond. His preliminary hearing has been scheduled for 10 a.m. May 18 before Magisterial District Judge Michael Metros.
