An oldies dance fundraiser to benefit local transplant patient

1 min read

An oldies dance to benefit the Charles “Bus” Matthews Liver Transplant Fund will be held Saturday at Christian Klay Winery in Chalk Hill.

Doors will open at 6 p.m. and music will be from 7 to 11 p.m.

The fundraiser is being held to help Matthews, of Independence, with the cost of his liver transplant at the Cleveland Clinic. This procedure is needed after he contracted hepatitis C from a lifesaving bone marrow transplant he had 28 years ago.

Even though his insurance will cover 80 percent of the operation, there are still expenses such as co-pays, deductibles, doctor visits, travel and relocation expenses and expensive medications that will need to be paid.

Matthews’ family has established an account at PNC Bank in Connellsville to accept tax-deductible, monetary contributions.

To purchase tickets for the dance, call 724-425-2472 or 724-437-0538. For more information about Matthews and the organization, visit online to www.wix.com/charlesmatthews/bus-liver.
