Dale S. Odom
Dale S. Odom, age 72, of Hopwood, went to be with his Lord and Savior on May 9, 2012.
He was born on July 31, 1939 in Uniontown, Pa.
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 44 years, Mary, on December 7, 2011; his stepson, Eddie Beaton on November 27, 2010; mother Genevieve Odom on October 20, 2011 and father, Archie Odom on October 19, 1985.
Dale was a member of Primitive Baptist Church of Martinsburg, W. Va. for many years. He graduated from South High School with the Class of 1957. He was employed with Murry’s Steaks in Forestville, Md. for 39 years. After retiring in 2005, he moved back to Pennsylvania. He was in the Army Reserves fro many years. His favorite pastimes were the Steelers, Penguins, car races and playing cards. He enjoyed spending time with his good friends on Thursday nights at Roy’s. Dale was fondly known as ‘the Governor’ to his buddies of Herring’s Breakfast Club.
He will be deeply missed by his loving sister, Dorise Rinaldi of Hopwood. Surviving are a stepson, Donald J. Beaton and wife, Toni, of Gaithersburg, Md.; step-daughter-in-law, Audrey Beaton of Romney, W. Va.; cousins, Louise Renda of Hopwood and Ginny Rosnick and husband, Ray, of Mechanicsburg, Pa.; two step-grandchildren, DJ and Christi; three step-great-grandchildren; several cousins in Mississippi and one very dear friend, Butch Conn. Dale also had many good friends and neighbors who helped him and looked after him. We will all miss him very much.
Arrangements have been entrusted to ANDREW D. FERGUSON FUNERAL HOME, INC., 80 Morgantown Street, Uniontown, Pa., where friends will be received on Sunday from noon until 2 p.m. and 6 until 8 p.m. Visitation will continue on Monday, May 14, 2012 from 10 until 11 a.m., followed by a service celebrating Dale’s life at 11 a.m. with Pastor Randy Costolo officiating. Burial will take place at Hopwood Cemetery.
