GERMAN TWP. – State police said two people were injured when their vehicles collided around 4:20 p.m. Friday near McClellandtown.

State police Trooper Adam Janosko said Charlotte Manzano’s sport utility vehicle clipped a utility pole along Route 21, about a half-mile from the intersection of Route 166.

Emergency personnel had to free Manzano from her vehicle.

Janosko said Manzano was flown by medical helicopter to Ruby Memorial Hospital in Morgantown, W.Va.

Janosko did not know the extent of Manzano’s injuries. She was conscious when emergency personnel put her on the stretcher.

Janosko said the driver of other vehicle, Joyce Sontheimer, who was driving a pickup truck, was taken by ambulance to Ruby Memorial Hospital.

Janosko said Sontheimer’s injuries did not appear to be life threatening.

Adah, Masontown, Footedale and McClellandtown volunteer fire departments and Fayette EMS responded to the accident.
