Juries render verdicts in criminal court

Fayette County juries last week rendered verdicts in several criminal cases during the May term of criminal court.

Jurors found Orlando Stanford, 20, of Pittsburgh guilty of criminal conspiracy to commit possession with intent to deliver drugs, possession of a controlled substance and possession with intent to deliver drugs and Jasmine Stanton, 20, of Pittsburgh guilty of criminal conspiracy to commit possession with intent to deliver drugs.

The two were tried together before Judge John F. Wagner Jr. on charges that stemmed from an investigation by the county’s drug task force. Police said the drug transactions occurred in Connellsville on Aug. 7, 2011.

Sentencing will be held at a later date.

In other cases:

n Kevin Charles Martin, 48, of Brownsville was found guilty of attempted burglary, attempted criminal trespass and criminal trespass and not guilty of burglary. The charges related to an incident in South Union Township on July 27.

President Judge Gerald R. Solomon will sentence Martin at a later date.

n Daniel William Karfelt, 23, of West Leisenring was convicted of burglary, criminal trespass and theft by unlawful taking related to an incident on Aug. 24, 2010, in South Union Township.

Judge Ralph C. Warman scheduled sentencing for June 1.

n Heath Jason Strosnider, 40, of Lake Lynn was convicted of possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia related to an incident in Uniontown on Dec. 17, 2010.

Solomon will sentence him on Monday.

n Brittney Lee Cocuzza, 21, of Uledi was found not guilty of simple assault and harassment related to an alleged incident in Uniontown on June 13, 2010. The trial was held before Solomon.

n Mark Andrew McDowell, 45, of Connellsville was found not guilty of simple assault related to an alleged incident in Connellsville on Sept. 26, 2010. The trial was held before Judge Steve P. Leskinen.
