Edward J. Kodric ‘Ducky’
Edward J. ‘Ducky’ Kodric, age 82, of Uniontown, Pa., died peacefully and went to be with the Lord on Saturday, May 12, 2012.
He was born in Uniontown, Pa., on October 10, 1929 the son of Anthony Kodric and Margaret (Lynn) Kodric.
Edward was a member of Saint Mary (Nativity) Roman Catholic Church and the former Holy Name Society.
He retired from Maple Creek where he was a Coal Miner for 25 years. He was a member of the United Mine Workers of America and Local Union No. 1248.
During the Korean War, Edward proudly served his country in the United States Army and was the recipient of the K o r e a n Service Medal with three Bronze Service Stars and the United Nations Service Medal.
He was a Life Member of the American Legion Post 753 in New Salem, Pa., North Union Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 8543, and the Hutchinson Sportsmen’s Club.
He was preceded in death by his parents; five brothers, James, William, A n t h o n y, Donald, and Thomas Kodric; and two sisters, Mary Kodric and Annie Kodric.
Left to cherish his memory are his beloved wife of 55 years, Agatha (Kvasnovsky) Kodric; their c h i l d r e n: Anthony J. Kodric and wife Mariann and Mary Louise Yasechko and husband Robert all of Uniontown, Pa., and Anna Marie Dunklee and her husband Philip of Canton, Michigan; 10 grandchildren: E d w a r d Joseph Kodric, Z a c h a r y Andrew Kodric, Stephanie Ann (Yasechko) Martin and husband William, Christine Renee Yasechko, Jennifer Nicole Yasechko, Elizabeth Marie Yasechko, Emily Nicole Dunklee, Sarah Renee Dunklee, John Edward Dunklee, and Matthew Philip Dunklee; brothers: Michael Kodric and his wife Rose of Uniontown, Pa., and Daniel Kodric of Eastlake, Ohio; and numerous nieces and nephews and their families.
The family thanks with sincere appreciation and gratitude the doctors, nurses and caregivers at Uniontown Hospital and Albert Gallatin (Medisys) for their devotion and c o m p a s s i o n during Edward’s care.
Friends will be received at the STEPHEN R. HAKY FUNERAL HOME INC., 603 N o r t h Gallatin Avenue Extension, Uniontown, Pa., today (Tuesday) from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. and on Wednesday, May 16, until 9:30 a.m. when Prayers of Transfer will be said.
A Funeral Mass will follow at 10 a.m. in St. Mary Nativity Roman Catholic Church, 61 North Mount Vernon Avenue, Uniontown, with Rev. Father Stephen R. Bugay as Celebrant
Interment will follow at Saint Mary Nativity Cemetery, Uniontown, where Military Honors will be accorded by American Legion Post 51 and Veterans of Foreign Wars.
The Parish Wake Service will be held at the Funeral Home today at 3:30 p.m.
