Two charged in Greene County home invasion
Two homeless people are in the Greene County Prison, accused of robbing an elderly Waynesburg woman during an alleged home invasion.
State police said Mary Ann McChesney, 32, and Matthew Gabriel Barth, 29, allegedly robbed Anna Mayhla, 85, at her home on Greenhouse Road on March 3.
Trooper Jay Hundertmark alleged that McChesney knocked on Mayhla’s door and asked to use her phone. Police said McChesney told Mayhla her vehicle ran out of gas. When Mayhla allowed her inside, police alleged that McChesney pushed her into a recliner and held her there by the wrists while Barth came into the home and looked for money.
Police said they received information that Barth and McChesney were staying in Dilliner, and went to pick them up on Monday. When they arrived, police alleged Barth identified himself by another name, but was arrested without incident. McChesney was also arrested.
Authorities said both confessed during an interview and were arraigned on charges of robbery, criminal conspiracy to commit robbery, theft by unlawful taking, criminal conspiracy to commit theft by unlawful taking and sample assault. Additionally, McChesney was charged with unlawful restraint and Barth was charged with false identification.
Magisterial District Judge Glenn Bates sent Barth’s bond at $50,000 and McChesney’s at $35,000.
