Glenn ‘Pete’ Franklin Rishel
Glenn ‘Pete’ Franklin Rishel of Uniontown, Pa., passed away peacefully on Thursday afternoon, May 17, 2012 in the Lafayette Manor.
He was born in Uniontown, Pa., the son of the late Victor V. Rishel and Edith Rush Rishel.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers and sisters: John Carlus Rishel, Dale Arden Rishel, Infant brother Donald, Margaret ‘Peggy’ Silman and Thelma Kovach.
He was a member of St. John the Evangelist R.C. Church. He was a 1940 graduate of the former North Union High School although he attended Uniontown Area High School until his senior year. He was a graduate of the Western PA Horological Institute. He was a United States Veteran serving in the Marines Corp. during WWII from 1942 – 1945 in the South Pacific Theatre with the 3rd Marine Regiment, 3rd Marine Division.
Pete was the manager of the Parts Department at the former Bryson Motors.
He was a member of the VFW Post 47 and American Legion Post 51.
Pete enjoyed wallpapering and woodworking.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 65 years, Margaret Carmelita Lally Rishel; loving children: Thomas V. Rishel and wife Kathryn of Uniontown and Timothy A. Rishel and wife Danielle, Orange Park, Florida grandchildren: Thomas G. Rishel (Emelia Farmiere) Kathryn Cavalcante and husband Tony, Christian Rishel and wife Shilo, Stephanie Hencin and husband Patrick and Melissa Walls; great grandchildren: Mahayla Rishel Chloe Hencin, Katheryn Walls, Calvin Hencin and Jayden Rishel; several loving nieces and nephews; great-nieces and great-nephews: sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law: Doris Rishel, Ann Rishel, Patricia Brown, R e g i n a L a l l y, Bernadette Burke, Charles Lally and his wife Clara, and Robert Kovach.
Friends were received in the KEZMARSKY FUNERAL HOME, 71 Pennsylvania Avenue, Uniontown on Sunday, May 20, from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9.
Friends will be received this morning, May 21, until 9 a.m. when Prayers of Transfer will be said followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 9:30 a.m. in St. John the Evangelist R. C. Church with the Rev. Father James D. T r i n g h e s e as celebrant.
Interment follows in Sylvan Heights Cemetery.
Military Honors will be accorded at Graveside.
