Memorial Day parade planned in Fairchance

Fairchance’s annual Memorial Day weekend parade and service will begin at 2:30 p.m. Saturday.

Parade marchers will begin lining up at West Church Street and Fayette Street at 1:30 p.m. The parade will travel east of West Church Street to the Alfred Wilson Memorial Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 7219, where the service will begin at 3:30 p.m. Justin Kurta of Fairchance will be the memorial service speaker; Post 7219 member Leo Kaputa will recite the Gettysburg Address and post Cmdr. Alan Ryan will participate in the service.

Marching bands from Albert Gallatin Area School District’s high school and North and South middle schools will march in the parade. VFW Post 7219, American Legion Post 51 of Uniontown, Vietnam War veterans, Boy Scouts, churches, ball teams, classic cars and truck from several area fire departments also will march in the parade.
