Dunbar Community Fest committee to showcase ornament
DUNBAR — A Pittsburgh art designer has reproduced a photograph of the Dunbar Honor Roll on a brass Christmas ornament that is part of a limited series being showcased by the Dunbar Community Fest during Monday’s Memorial Day service.
Cindy Moag, a festival committee member, said Tom Pollard Designs created the ornament from a photo taken by historical society member Albert DeMott of Dunbar.
Previously, the committee sold a series of 10 mugs commemorating the borough’s history.
“This is a new project and we’re not sure how many we will do,” said Moag of the ornaments.
Moag said the borough is proud of the honor roll, which serves as a community centerpiece.
“Some towns are not fortunate to have an honor roll to honor their service men and women,” said Moag.
Moag said the ornament will sell for $12.95 and is currently on display at the Dunbar Historical Society. All proceeds from the ornament sales will benefit the Dunbar Community Fest.
Moag added the committee is still making plans for its annual event.
