Spencer Levi Harris, Jr.
Rev. Spencer Levi Harris, Jr. left his earthly life behind and entered the gates of heaven on November 19, 2012.
He was born in Newport News, Virginia, August 23, 1944. One of four sons and two daughters of the late Spencer Levi Harris, Sr. and Helen Allen Harris.
He was a 1962 graduate of Luneburg County Virginia public school system. He was a graduate of Washington Institute Bible College, Washington, Pa. He worked as a laborer in manufacturing production. Prior to his death, he worked as a bus driver, a job he enjoyed, meeting and greeting people.
Spencer accepted Christ at an early age in Saint Matthews Baptist Church located in Kenbridge, Virginia. Spencer continued in his Spiritual Ministry until his death. He served as Pastor of Mount Zion Baptist Church, Grindstone, Pa. Union Baptist Church, Monessen, Pa. and at the time of his death, was Pastor of Second Baptist Church in Latrobe, Pa. He also served as an active member of the Y.W.B.A. and was currently Vice Moderator and Trustee.
Surviving him is his wife Leslie Randle whom he married in 1974. Also surviving are seven sons: Anthony, Spencer Levi, III, Joseph, Ramon, Michael and Jonte; two stepsons: Gilbert and Robert and four daughters: Diane, Debbie, Tracy and Rochelle. He is also survived by several grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews and cousins.
He leaves behind his beloved sister Scarlett Haskins, Baltimore, Md. and brothers: Stanley (Yolanda) Harris, Silvester (Paula) Harris, Melvin (Laura) Harris, all of Columbus, Ohio; a brother-in-law Walter Crawley, Baltimore, Md.; a special friend and caregiver Barbara Bungard.
Preceding him in death in addition to his parents was his sister Doris Crawley.
The services will take place at the YOUGHIOGHENY WESTERN BAPTIST ASSOCIATION, 624 Duck Hollow Road and Route 21, Uniontown, Pa. Time 1:00 p.m
