Grindstone to host first light-up parade
If imitation is the sincerest form of flattery, Brownsville should be flattered.
The Grindstone Volunteer Fire Department is hosting its own Light-up Night parade Friday, featuring fire trucks and ambulances with lights and sirens going.
“Everybody in the area always tells us they have to get in their cars and go to Brownsville to see the light-up parade and they wanted something local,” said Grindstone fire Chief Rich Lenk. “We’re going to try it and have Santa down at the fire hall.”
The parade of trucks will leave the fire hall around 6 p.m., including vehicles from the Grindstone, Smock and Republic volunteer fire departments and Brownsville Ambulance Service Inc. The parade will go through Old Hill, past the post office to Red Hill, Rowes Run and Braznell before heading back to Grindstone and the New Hill area. The parade will end at the fire department’s social hall. Lenk said the parade should get back to the hall between 7 and 7:30 p.m.
Lenk said the event will include photographs with Santa Claus, refreshments and treat bags for the children as well.
