Man allegedly caught ransacking home
A Republic man is behind bars for allegedly breaking into a neighbor’s home, and when he was caught going through a kitchen cabinet, threatening to shoot the people living there.
Obataiye Karee Scott Jr., 32 Rollie St. allegedly pried the screen off the front living room window of a home at 32 Rollie St, and climbed inside between 6 and 6:30 a.m. Oct. 10.
Joshua A. Osburn and Candice T. Johnson, who were inside the rented home, woke up while he was inside and came downstairs to see Scott “in their kitchen rummaging through a cupboard.” State police said they knew Scott, who told them he had a gun and would shoot them before fleeing through the kitchen door.
Police alleged he took an SKS-type rifle, two video game systems, video games, money and jewelry worth about $3,350 from the home.
He was arraigned before Magisterial District Judge Joseph M. George Jr., who committed him to Fayette County Prison in lieu of $100,000 bond.
Scott is charged with burglary, criminal trespass, theft by unlawful taking, terroristic threats and harassment. He will have a preliminary hearing at a later date.
