Values Bus headed to Fayette County
The Values Bus, which is on a national tour to promote fiscal and moral responsibility, is coming to Uniontown and Connellsville this weekend.
Sponsored by the Family Research Council and the Heritage Foundation, the bus has been traveling across the country for the past year to encourage people to register to vote, promote family values and talk about a strong economy.
Locally, the Fayette Patriots and Standing in the Gap will host the Values Bus as it stops at Liberty Baptist Church, 183 Oliver Road, Uniontown, on Saturday with a potluck dinner at 6 p.m. and Bob Morrison, senior policy analyst, speaking at 7 p.m.
The Values Bus will travel to Connellsville for a candlelight vigil at 7 p.m. Sunday at Connellsville Junior High, 710 Locust St., which has been the site of a battle over a Ten Commandments monument.
The Rev. Ewing Marietta, pastor of Liberty Baptist, who has advocated to keep the Ten Commandments on public display, said of the Values Bus, “They stand for traditional values, such as marriage with one man and one woman; a child should be able to pray in school; respect for the Pledge of Allegiance; and standing up for our flag — traditional values that are being eroded away.”
