Paul ‘Sonny’ Philip Gaydos

Paul Philip Gaydos, age 68, of Daisytown, Pa., died Friday, October 19, 2012 at home surrounded by his family.

He was born September 28, 1944 in Uniontown, Pa., the son of Paul Gaydos and Anna (Mihallik) Gaydos.

Paul was a 1962 graduate of Beth Center High School.

He had been employed as an Underground Miner for United States Steel at Maple Creek Mine. He was a Mine Foreman and retired in 1999 after 30 years of service.

He enjoyed gardening, golfing, berry picking, grilling, canning and entertaining family and friends. He also enjoyed spending time with his eight grandchildren.

Mr. Gaydos was a longtime member of Saint Agnes Roman Catholic Church in Richeyville, Pa., Athletic Club in Daisytown and the Polish Club in Bentleyville, Pa.

He was a volunteer at the Greater Washington County Food Bank and the Saint Agnes Church fish fry’s.

On May 22, 1965 he married Nancy (Barger) Gaydos, who survives.

Also surviving are a son, Mark D. Gaydos (Mary Lynn) of Uniontown, Pa.; daughters: Kristen Hedden (Denny) of Louisville, Kentucky and Deanne Petrucci (Chris) of Coal Center, Pa.; two brothers: Thomas Gaydos (Jean) of Youngsville, N.C., and David (Deannie) Spout Springs, Va.; sisters:Delores Mass (Ronald) Bennet, Nebraska and Faye Lesznar (George) of Falling Water, W.Va.; grandchildren: Mark D. Gaydos Jr., Denielle Hedden, J e s s i c a Hedden, K a t r i n a Hedden, P a i g e Petrucci, Braden Pettrucci, Kristin Pettrucci and Madelyn Petrucci; as well as several nieces and nephews.

Deceased are his parents; a grandson, John Paul Gaydos; and a niece, Cindy Lesznar.

Friends will be received on Monday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 in the JOHN B. GREENLEE FUNERAL HOME, 2830 Main Street, Beallsville, Pa.

Friends are invited to go directly to Saint Agnes Roman Catholic Church on Tuesday October 23, 2012 for a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. with Reverend Father James Young as Celebrant.

Internment will follow in Sylvan Heights Cemetery, Uniontown, Pa.
