Pauline Anne (Mixey) Kipila
Pauline Anne (Mixey) Kipila, age 98, of Uniontown, Pennsylvania passed away on Wednesday, October 17, 2012 in Uniontown Hospital.
She was born January 24, 1914 in O s c e o l a M i l l s, Pennsylvania the daughter of Paul Mixey and Elizabeth (Harto) Mixey.
Pauline graduated in 1931 from Masontown High School.
She lived for many years in New Salem before moving to Maryland in 1993 to be with her daughters and returned to Uniontown with her daughters in 2005 to reside in South Union Township.
She was a member of New Salem Presbyterian Church where she served many years as a Sunday School teacher, Sunday School Superintendent and Deacon. She was an active member of Presbyterian Women and enjoyed serving as a Greeter on Sunday mornings. While in Crofton, Maryland for 12 years, she was a member of Prince of Peace Presbyterian Church where she was active in Presbyterian Women.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Andrew Kipila; her sister, Margaret (Mixey) Catopodis; and her brother, George Mixey. Pauline was the last of her immediate family.
She is survived by two daughters, Barbara and Betsy, with whom she made her home; several nieces and nephews; and her three cats, C r e a m p u f f, P e n e l o p e and Libby, whom she adored.
Friends will be received in DEARTH FUNERAL HOME, New Salem, Pa., today from 1 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. and Monday, October 22, 2012 from 11 a.m. until 12:30 p.m.
Funeral Services will follow at 1 p.m. in the New Salem Presbyterian Church with the Rev. Norma Prina Murphy officiating.
Interment will follow in S a l e m V i e w Cemetery, New Salem, Pa.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in her memory to New Salem Presbyterian Church, Friends of Uniontown Public Library, or Fayette Friends of Animals Shelter.
Special thanks go to Albert Gallatin nurse Sharon, also therapists Andrea, Jenny and Mary, and aide Joann who over the last 1 1/2 years helped Pauline to get back on her feet several times.
