A South Union Township man who police allege ran from the scene of a traffic stop in Uniontown and tried to toss two handguns while fleeing will stand trial.

State police Trooper Donald Stubenrauch said Alphonso Pugh, 25, was charged with illegal possession of a firearm, receiving stolen property, escape, carrying a firearm without a license, resisting arrest, public drunkenness and two traffic related offenses.

Stubenrauch said the charges were filed following a traffic stop of Pugh’s vehicle on Park Avenue on Aug. 7 for a traffic violation.

Magisterial District Judge Michael M. Metros held all charges against Pugh for Fayette County Court during a preliminary hearing early today.
