PERRYOPOLIS — A woman sustained major injuries Friday after her pickup collided with another truck.

Stefanie Wilson, 20, of Hibbs was flown to UMPC-Presbyterian hospital in Pittsburgh after her pickup and another truck, driven by Charles Szabo, 34, of Smithton collided on Route 51 in Perryopolis around 4:15 p.m.

State police said Szabo was not injured.

Wilson was traveling south on Route 51 when the crash occurred, police said. Szabo was in the parking lot of MAS Supply on the east side of Route 51 and pulled out onto the closed lane of Route 51 and turned to travel north, police said.

At that time, police said, the trailer attached to Szabo’s vehicle detached from the rear of the truck, traveled west and entered the south bound lane and Wilson’s path of travel. Wilson’s truck then collided with the front of the trailer, police said.

Responding to the scene were the Perryopolis Township Volunteer Fire Department, Rostraver/West Newton Emergency Services and Fayette EMS.

Route 51 was closed briefly as both lanes were blocked for the medical helicopter to land.
