Joseph Cellurale, Sr.

Joseph Cellurale, Sr., 86 of Lemont Furnace, Pa. died Saturday, September 1, 2012 at UPMC Shadyside Hospital. He was born February 10, 1926 in Lemont Furnace a son of the late Michael and Maria (DiFroscia) Cellurale.

He was a lifetime member of St. Aloysius R.C. Church, Dunbar and was a former member of the Dunbar Lion’s Club. Prior to his retirement, he worked for many years at the former Allied Mills, Everson.

Joseph was a lifelong farmer and co-owner of Cellurale’s Pine Tree Plantation for 45 years. He loved to spend time in his garden and enjoyed canning his fresh vegetables. In his spare time, he loved to bowl and also enjoyed driving the hay wagon for many years at Rich’s Fright Farm.

He is survived by his children: Linda J. Mongell and husband George of Connellsville, Joe Cellurale, Jr. of Uniontown, and Marcie Sangston and husband Mark of LeMont Furnace; grand-children: Maria Bigham, George J. Mongell, Joey A. Cellurale, Lacie Cellurale, and Tasha Davis and husband Danny; 6 great grandchildren, including his “Special Little Girl”, Kirra Jean Davis; sister, Lydia Ann Rich of Smithfield; numerous nieces and nephews; and his cat, Boo-Boo.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Doris Jean (Hartman) Cellurale (2004); and a brother, James Cellurale, Sr.

Family and friends will be received from Noon – 4 and 6 to 9 p.m. Wednesday in the PAUL G. FINK FUNERAL HOME INC., 418 N. Pittsburgh St., Connellsville, where Prayers of Transfer will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday.

A Funeral Mass will follow at 11 a.m. in St. Aloysius R.C. Church, Dunbar with Monsignor J. Edward McCullough as celebrant. Entombment will follow in Sylvan Heights Cemetery, Uniontown.
