Verizon crews will be working around the clock to fix damaged phone lines that cut service to about 200 customers in Uniontown.

A contractor working for Pennsylvania American Water severed one underground phone cable and damaged two others while boring under the road at the corner of Morgantown and Main streets over the weekend, said Verizon spokesman Lee Gierczynski.

He said he didn’t know when the accident took place, but crews began making repairs Tuesday and hope to finish the work by the end of the week.

“The repair crews will be working around the clock making repairs,” Gierczynski said.

Less than 200 residential and business land lines are out of service because to the mishap, he said.

Customers should call 1-800-Verizon to report service problems, he said.
