CONNELLSVILLE — Today, area pastors and community members gathered together to fight to keep a Ten Commandments monument at its current location – on the grounds of the Connellsville Area Junior High School.

“We need to take a stand and be courageous,” said Ewing Marietta, Liberty Baptist Church pastor. “In 1963, when the bible was taken out of our schools, we were quiet then. Let’s not be quiet now.”

Marietta organized the prayer rally which took place at 5 p.m. near the monument.

During the rally, he said he hopes the district keeps the monument in place until there is an actual court case against the district.
