Elderly woman uninjured after wild ride
An elderly Belle Vernon woman was not injured after her car took her for a wild ride as she was leaving her residence to go to church Sunday morning, police said.
Southwest Regional police said Geraldine Molinatto, 89, of Johnson Street told officers that she was backing out of her parking spot around 11 a.m. on her way to church when her car apparently malfunctioned, causing it to roll backwards.
Police said the car moved about 30 yards in reverse before striking another parked car.
Police said the vehicle then drove forwards and crashed into an apartment building causing significant damage to the building.
No one was injured as a result of the crash.
Police are not sure what caused the vehicle to malfunction.
