Man charged in hospital attack
A Uniontown man is facing multiple charges after police allege he assaulted three employees at Uniontown Hospital on Saturday.
Uniontown police Officer Dave Hromada said Rashaad Harris, 20, of 13 North St. was charged before Magisterial District Judge Michael M. Metros with aggravated assault, simple assault, recklessly endangering another person, two counts of disorderly conduct, harassment and resisting arrest.
According to Hromada, the charges were filed against Harris after he assaulted the employees in the behavioral health unit.
Hromada said the that incident began when Harris grabbed one of the employees around the chest and threw her to the floor, causing injuries to her neck and left thigh, and then jumped on top of her and held her down.
Two other employees came to the woman’s aid and Harris attacked them as well, causing injuries to one man’s right arm and shoulder and another man’s right knee and right wrist, Hromada said.
He said when officers arrived, Harris continued to be combative with police and officers eventually had to use a stun gun to bring him into compliance.
Once at the Fayette County Booking Center in Uniontown, Hromada said Harris continually tried to remove his restraints and also spit on officers.
He was placed in Fayette County Prison on $100,000 straight cash bond following his arraignment.
A preliminary hearing will be held at a later date before Metros.
