Businessman sues state police, claims malicious prosecution

1 min read

A Uniontown businessman sued a state police trooper, alleging he was maliciously prosecuted for unlawfully scrapping a car – charges which were ultimately dismissed.

Louis “Joby” Cantalamessa filed the federal lawsuit Tuesday against Trooper Timothy S. Karpiak, who filed the charges of theft and fraudulent removal of a vehicle against him.

Cantalamessa owns and operates Joby’s Gulf, a service station and towing company on Beeson Avenue in Uniontown.

Following a preliminary hearing before Magisterial District Judge Michael Metros in July, all of the charges were dismissed.
