Dunbar Township man waives forgery charges

A Dunbar Township man police allege used counterfeit money to gain entrance to the Fayette County Fair on Aug. 4 will stand trial.

State police said William Douglas Benson, 46, was charged before Magisterial District Judge Wendy D. Dennis with forgery, trademark counterfeiting and theft by deception after he used $65 in fake bills at the fairgrounds in Dunbar Township.

Benson waived the charges against him to Fayette County Court during a preliminary hearing held this afternoon before Magisterial District Judge Dwight K. Shaner.
