McClellandtown man pleads guilty to tax evasion
A McClellandtown man charged with not paying taxes on hundreds of thousands of dollars in lottery winnings pleaded guilty to tax evasion today.
Sherman W. Friend, 69, pleaded guilty to one count of tax evasion before United States District Judge Arthur J. Schwab.
Friend was charged with two counts of tax evasion for not paying a total of $132,445 in taxes from 2009 and 2010. The indictment, handed down earlier this year, indicated that Friend had $101,818 of taxable income in 2009 and $378,779 of taxable income in 2010.
