A North Union Township woman who has been on the run from police for several weeks after she allegedly assaulted and robbed an elderly woman outside a Fayette County retail store turned herself in to police today.

Brittany Joyce Boyd, 24, of 303 Easter St. surrendered to state police troopers around 11:30 a.m. at the office of Magisterial District Judge Joseph M. George Jr.

Boyd had been on the lam since police allege that she and her sister, Jenna Shay Boyd, of North Union Township, robbed Mary Yourchik, 82, also of North Union Township, outside the Walmart Supercenter in South Union Township on March 22.

George arraigned her on charges including robbery, theft, access device fraud, endangering the welfare of children, aggravated assault and simple assault.

She was then placed in Fayette County Prison on $50,000 straight cash bond.
