Uniontown man waives drug charges

1 min read

A Uniontown man who police allege tried to walk away from a traffic stop in Uniontown while in possession of illegal drugs will stand trial.

Charles E. Bailey, 23, was charged with possession of cocaine, possession of marijuana and possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance by Uniontown police Officer Eric Hanula.

Bailey waived all charges against him to Fayette County Court during a preliminary hearing today.

Hanula said that while police had a vehicle stopped on Searight Avenue on March 13, Bailey exited the passenger side of the car and began to walk away.

When officers stopped him after noticing a strong odor of alleged marijuana, Hanula said he discovered a bag of marijuana in one of Bailey’s pockets and later found crack cocaine hidden in Bailey’s shoes.

Police also seized more than $350 that Bailey was carrying.

Bailey remains free after posting 10 percent of $25,000 straight cash bond.
