Roy N. Brashear
Roy N. Brashear, age 80, of Brier Hill, passed away peacefully at his home surrounded by his loving family.
Roy was the son of the late Roy H. Brashear and Margaret (Benlock) Brashear of West Brownsville.
In addition to his parents, he will be met in spirit by his two sisters, Jenny Bachman, and Margaret ‘Peggy’ Lacey, and his brother, Howard Brashear.
Still here to cherish his memory are his beloved wife of 60 years, Jacqueline Kearns Brashear and his three children, Rocky Brashear and his wife, Kim, of Brier Hill, Tina Conaway and her husband, Keith, of Allison, and Timothy Brashear and his fiancee, Melody Ferea, of Hiller. Roy was a wonderful grandfather to his five grandchildren, Brian Brashear, Jenna Stump, Shannon Brashear, Timothy Brashear, Tara Means and Brittany Brashear. He was also blessed with four great-grandchildren. Everyone loved ‘Pappy’.
Roy was a decorated veteran serving in Germany and Korea from 1953-1955 during the Korean Conflict. He was part of the Third Armored Tank Division (Spearhead) where he commandeered his tank, an M46 Patton, that he proudly christened ‘Jackie’ after his adored wife. After his service, he became a 32-year-long member of the Laborers Union and became known for his expertise in cement work.
Roy’s favorite times were spent at home in his favorite chair on his front porch where he always would welcome you. Each year he counted the days to plant his garden where he would grow his delicious tomatoes. He rooted for hometown sports and loved the Steelers, Pirates and the Pens. Roy also frequently supported the Pennsylvania Lottery with a plan to help his whole family. Roy’s loving nature and kindness will never be replaced.
