David Julius Montagna M.D., died unexpectedly at his home Thursday, April 25, 2013.  

He was born May 5, 1937 in Brownsville, Pa., the son of Julius P. Montagna and Delia (Dati) Montagna.

After graduating from the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine, David served in the United States Army in Europe.

He returned home to marry Grace (Morea) Montagna. They settled in Filbert Heights and celebrated 45 years of marriage in October 2012

Dr. Montagna is perhaps best known for his service as a physician He cared greatly for his patients and routinely made house calls throughout his practice.

David is survived by his loving wife, Grace; his sons: Michael Montagna of Pittsburgh, Pa., Gregory Montagna and his wife Amy of Catonsville, Maryland; daughters: Diane Montagna of Latrobe, Pa., and Linda Montagna of Denver, Colorado; two granddaughters: Isabella Montagna and Alexandra Montagna both of Catonsville, Maryland; his sister, Virginia Helisik of Cardale, Pa.; one niece; nephews and cousins.

Friends will be received in the ROBERT T. KISH FUNERAL HOME, 19 Legion Street, Republic, Pa., today, April 28, from 4 to 7 p.m. and on Monday, April 29, from 5 to 9 p.m.

A Funeral Mass will be celebrated by Reverend Father James W. Clark on Tuesday, April 30, at 10 a.m. at MADONNA OF CZESTOCHOWA CHURCH, 212 Filbert-Orient Road, Cardale, Pa.

Interment will follow at LaFayette Memorial Park, Brier Hill, Pa.

Grant him eternal rest, Lord, and let perpetual light shine upon him.
