Republic man charged in assault on police

A Republic man is facing charges after police allege he bit an officer during a dispute in Redstone Township.

Aaron Wesley Woods, 58, of 24 Rollie St. was charged before Magisterial District Judge Mike Defino Jr. with aggravated assault, simple assault, resisting arrest, disorderly conduct, harassment and two traffic violations following the incident on Redstone Township on Nov. 24.

Redstone Township police Sgt. Norman Howard said he was conducting traffic control for a parade, along with Officer Troy Rice, when his patrol vehicle was approached by a vehicle driven by Woods.
