Bertha C. (Gale) Hixson, age 88, of Uniontown, PA passed away Sunday, December 8, 2013 in Golden Living Center, Waynesburg, PA.

She was born May 7, 1925 in Oliver # 1, PA daughter of Jesse James McMannes and Maud Miller McMannes.

In addition to her parents, Bertha was preceded in death by her husband, Clyde Hixson; son, Clyde L. Hixson, Jr.; granddaughter, Tammy Renee Parris; brothers, Wilbur, Jesse L. and Sam McMannes; sisters, Virginia Mehoke and Bernice Kurchek.

Bertha was a 1944 graduate of Jefferson Morgan High School and a member of Abundant Life Church.

She worked as a clerk for five (5) years for Richard’s Bakery and for fifteen (15) years for Judy Jean Bakery.

Bertha was a past member of Uniontown Firemen’s Auxiliary.

Left to cherish Bertha’s memory are her son, Jesse D. Hixson of Panama City, FL; daughter-in-law Patti; grandchildren, Cynthia Gale Lamphier, Sandra Denise Wilhite, Kevin Lewis, Stacey Lewis, Elizabeth Cochran, Jesse D. Hixon, Jr. and Clyde L. Hixson, III; daughter-in-law, Gail Hixson of Florida; fifteen (15) great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Arrangements have been entrusted to the ANDREW D. FERGUSON FUNERAL HOME, 80 Morgantown Street, Uniontown, PA where family and friends may call on Thursday from 3:00 until 6:00 p.m. Visitation will continue in Abundant Life Church on Friday, December 13, 02013 from 10:00 until 11:00 a.m. followed by a service celebrating Bertha’s life at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor Nick Cook officiating.

Interment will follow in Sylvan Heights Cemetery.
