Eugene J. ‘Gino’ Barchetti
Eugene J. ‘Gino’ Barchetti, 86 years, of Uniontown, Pa., passed away Friday, December 13, 2013 at his home with loving family by his side.
He was born August 1, 1927 in Uniontown, Pa.
Preceding him in death were his parents, Peter Barchetti and Adeline (Coppola) Barchetti; his first wife, Helen Pauline (Kozak) Barchetti; a granddaughter, Lauren Madison; and a brother, James Barchetti.
‘Gino’ graduated from Masontown High School.
He owned//operated The 206 Lounge and Bar on East Main Street in Uniontown for 51 years.
He was a member of Saint Therese de Lisieux Roman Catholic Church, the Uniontown Fire Department for 46 years, was President of the Chief Williams Hook and L a d d e r C o m p a n y, member of Uniontown F i r e D e p a r t m e n t Ambulance Corps, the F a y e t t e C o u n t y Firemen’s Association, Western Pennsylvania Firemen’s Association, the General George C. Marshall AMVETS Post 103 in Hopwood for over 20 years, and the Fayette County Soccer League where he served as Coach and Treasurer for six years.
‘Gino’ was a longtime Pittsburgh Steelers and Pittsburgh Pirates fan.
He was Scoutmaster of Boy Scouts of America Troop 608, Advisor on Council, received the Boy Scouts District Award of Merit and the Wood Badge, a member of the Scouting Heritage Society and member of the Order of the Arrow.
Surviving are his wife of 42 years, Joan Arlene (M o y e r) M a d i s o n Barchetti; five children: Deborah Davies and her husband Tom of Fairfax, Virginia, Eugene P. Barchetti and his wife Marlene, Uniontown, Pa., Christopher S. Barchetti and his wife Laurie of Aurora, Colorado, Jay E. Madison and his wife Deborah of Upper Middletown, Pa., and David L. Madison and his wife Cindy of New Salem, Pa.; nine grandchildren; a sister, Evelyn Sandala, and a brother, Peter Barchetti and wife Anna Marie, all of Uniontown; a brother, Anthony Barchetti and wife Anita of Trafford, Pa.; several nieces and nephews.
Friends will be received in the SHELL FUNERAL HOME INC., 164 South Mount Vernon Avenue, Uniontown, Pa., this evening from 6 to 8 p.m., Monday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. and on Tuesday, December 17, until 9:30 a.m. when Prayers of Transfer will be said.
A Funeral Mass will follow at 10 a.m. in Saint Joseph Catholic Church, 180 Old Walnut Hill Road, with Monsignor Michael W. Matusak, V.F., as Celebrant.
Interment will follow in S y l v a n H e i g h t s Cemetery, Uniontown, Pa
Parish Wake Service will be held in Funeral Home on Monday at 3.
The Uniontown Fire Department will pay their respects on Monday at 7 p.m.
The family would like to thank the Uniontown Hospital doctors, nurses and staff, Fayette Homecare nurses and aides, the Pish Medical Associates, and close friends and aides, Alana McNair and Elaine Mandella, for the loving care they provided during his illness.
